I must say this is one of the best proposals ever. Ariel and Jeremy were vacationing in Disney World (I know, jealous). Jeremy had it all planned out, he had the ring in his pocket all day and was going to wait until the time was just right and propose to her in front of Cinderella’s Castle. After riding roller coasters and having a day full of fun the time came when they were standing in front of the Castle and he was going to ask her to marry him…he “chickens out” not wanting to propose with everyone else in the park. Instead he waits until they are back in the condo and getting ready for bed. Of course she says yes and what better way to commemorate then by getting Disney World pins that say “just engaged!” The next day when they are back in the park someone from Radio Disney spots their engagement pins and asks them to come onto the show in front of thousands of people and recreate the proposal! After Jeremy was already too nervous to do it in front of people the first time he has to propose to his Fiance a second time on a live broadcast! Getting proposed to twice in the same week…Ariel you are one lucky lady!
We finally had a themed wedding! You have no idea how happy that makes me! My nerd side was going crazy on October 25th when Ariel and Jeremy got married with us at A Place in the Vineyard. Their entire wedding was formed around The Lord of the Rings and I loved every minute of it. All their decorations had something to do with the books and movies. The colors Ariel chose were very earthy and neutral like green, burnt orange, brown and ivory. I asked them why they liked The Lord of the Rings so much and it came down to Tolkien’s idea of life and sense of adventure. Not just because the books and movies are amazing.
They had their ceremony at the Pecan Trees, only fitting to have it outside in a natural setting based on the theme. She even had someone bring in metal that had been bent into a circle and her decorations made it look like a Hobbit Hill. How cool is that!?! It looked like they were standing at the entrance to a Hobbit’s home! I’m only mildly squealing inside over how amazing this is. Also notice her head piece? I’ll let you do some research to figure out what it is (hint its from one of the movies and one of the elves wears it at the end).
Inside the reception hall it continued to have the Middle Earth feel to it. All her tables were labeled a city from The Lord of the Rings and each person was assigned to a certain city. What a fun way to incorporate it into your seating chart. She also had the One Ring sitting on the bar with us. Now that I think about it, I can’t think of a better theme for these two since their last name is now Mohr! I just now made the connection…since Mordor was the fictional place where the first movie is set. AHH! Look at these decorations! Can you believe that Ariel made all of them? She has to be one of the craftiest people I have ever met. Not only did she design her own cake, but she also did all the centerpieces, name cards, burnt images into wood for a sign in book, and made birdcages for her bridesmaids to carry instead of flowers. All the bird cages had something in them pertaining to the movies as well like a dragon egg.
Needless to say I took a lot of photos of this wedding. I was just trying to get all the details because there were so many. As I mentioned earlier about her designing her own cake you will just have to see for yourself how amazing it was. The bottom layer was all 4 books including “The Hobbit”, the second layer was the One Ring and on top was a Hobbit home made entirely of fondant and rice crispy treats. They even cut it with a replica sword from the movie! Now I can’t leave out the caterer who also took part in the theme by placing dragons on the buffet line and pulling in the earthy colors with their display. Southern Style Catering certainly played their part very well in making sure the theme carried onto the meal as well.
I can’t thank you enough for letting me be a part of your special day. It was so much fun and will certainly be a wedding I talk about for years to come. We wish you an eternity of love and happiness.
