Beach Vibes for this Themed Wedding

Beach Themed Wedding

It is rare that we see themed weddings. When people hear those words, many run for the hills and cover their eyes thinking “oh how cheesy!” but this doesn’t have to be the case! A themed wedding doesn’t have to be over the top and fully involved. Although it can be super amazing (like my sister’s awesome Harry Potter wedding!). Some people have a simple theme like vineyard, beach or country. Those are all themes, guys. As simple as they may be, they do count!

Melinda and Michael chose to have a beach theme… at a vineyard. Yes. You read right. And it’s okay because it totally worked! Their beach theme wasn’t taken to the max, it was really quite subtle but leaned heavily on beautiful shades of ocean blue. With a beach theme, their ceremony just wouldn’t be complete without some water and because of this they chose to have their ceremony at our pond and gazebo. Guests were able to look out at the water and the spewing water fountain, all which added to the allure of a beach theme. See, it’s coming around.

The Decorations

Melinda chose to decorate the gazebo with lovely shades of white and turquoise. The posts were draped with sheer fabrics to give a sweet billowing effect as the wind caught them like the tail of a kite. A sort of arbor was constructed out of bamboo and flowers to further frame in the couple during their “beach wedding”.

Ok, ok, I can hear you already. “If they wanted a beach wedding why didn’t they just have a beach wedding?” Well the answer is quite simple really. The fear of rain. No bride wants to even think that it could rain on her most special day but Melinda was smart and not only considered it but made a choice that would keep her safe from the elements if bad weather should arise. Very smart if you ask me! I’ve seen too many beach weddings that have been absolutely destroyed by rain and wind.

Special Touches

Designed by Icing on the Edge, their cake carried a definite beach theme as well. With ivory fondant, blue ribbon and seashells adorning the cake, it certainly fit in with the theme of the afternoon. I love it when a cake is beautiful and delicious! I’m pretty sure everyone left this wedding ready to schedule their next beach vacation. I know I sure was!

Now scroll down in the pictures because I have a surprise. We FINALLY had a wedding with an ice sculpture! I have seen them over and over at weddings that are in hotels and country clubs but for some reason they had always eluded us here at the vineyard. The dolphin was just beautiful and to me was the finishing touch on this beach themed wedding. As the sweet little dolphin slowly melted, it was okay, it just gave him some water to swim in!

One little guess as to where they went on their honeymoon… don’t you dare get it wrong!
