Emily and Jonathan met while they were both working at Monkey Joes, a large play place with all kinds of blow up houses, slides, and trampolines for children to play on. Jonathan was not only the manager but also dressed up as “Monkey Joe” who is the mascot for the company. They were only 17 and 21 years old when they started working there and became friends. Since then Jonathan has become a Fire Fighter and we can’t thank him enough for his hard work and bravery. Flash forward five and a half years and Jonathan started planning a proposal for the woman of his dreams.
They were on the pier at a beach in Columbia, NC. They had rented a house as a little getaway or so Emily thought. She had no idea that it was all part of a surprise engagement! When they came home, she had a shiny new ring and no one in her family knew except her father. Just a good ol’ southern boy doing it right by asking her father for her hand in marriage first.
They got married with us at A Place in the Vineyard on September 30, 2017. Out of our three ceremony locations, they chose to have theirs at the pecan trees to go along with their rustic and laid back personalities. Her colors were navy and gold. All the groomsmen were in navy tuxes with matching vests and ties. The bridesmaids were in long navy asymmetrical dresses with an off the shoulder, tulle illusion sweetheart neckline. All the girls were toting beautiful and bright bouquets filled with red, yellow, and white flowers. You could see an occasional pop of a sunflower here and there, especially in the reception hall. Then here comes Emily with her gorgeous all lace A-Line gown with light beading and medium length veil. She is definitely the most beautiful woman Jonathan has ever seen. You can tell by the way his smile never leaves his face.
After the wedding everyone headed up to the covered patio for cocktail hour while Emily and Jonathan had some gorgeous pictured made. They are all posted below so be sure to scroll down. Inside the reception hall they wanted to pull in the same rustic feel, but also add a touch of wine theme since this is a vineyard you know. On the sweetheart table there was a huge floral piece with sunflowers and baby’s breath. It had two flicker taper candles in it that almost had a woodsy look to them. Then to the right and left of the statement floral piece were wine glasses that had been turned upside down on top of doilies with tea light flicker candles under them. It was a super romantic look for the farmhouse sweetheart table where this couple shared their first meal as husband and wife. Rock Store Barbeque in Matthews, North Carolina, provided the food.
We are so glad that the two of you chose to share your special day with us and hope you had an amazing time in Jamaica on your honeymoon.
